GUARDIAN ANGELS

Holy Guardian Angels       

            God gives each of us his personal protection through our Guardian Angels. That is what we celebrate today on the feast of the Guardian Angels. Guardian Angels are God’s messengers who protect each and everyone of us. God wills that his love be made personal for each of us, and that is why he gave each of us a Guardian Angel.

            Today’s feast of the Guardian Angels is reminding us that God has a personal protection and a loving providence for each of us. Our faith in angels simply means that the love of God for us is expressed not only in what our eyes can see; the love of God for us and the power of God, is also expressed to us in invisible realities. In other words, for us to be able to understand the mystery of God’s love, it is also important that we believe that there are invisible realities which are expressions of God’s love for us.

            Angels, indeed, are the sign of God’s personal love and concern for us. God loves us that much that he gives each of us a personal angel, a guardian angel, to be at our side always and everywhere. God gives us angels who help us to know, love and serve him. Angels who help us as we perform our tasks and responsibilities, and as we strive to accomplish our goals and mission in life. Angels who help us to be able to make enlightened choices and take the right steps in whatever we do. Angels who help us overcome temptations, avoid sin, be good, and do good to others. Angels who protect us from harm and bring us closer to God. Guardian angels represent God’s personal loving presence in us.

            The question on us is: Are we even aware of the presence of our guardian angels? Are we praying to them and are we allowing them to light and guard, to rule and guide us? For us to have a deeper experience of God’s loving presence in our lives, we need to have a more personal relationship with our Guardian Angels.

            Let us end with this prayer Angel of God, my Guardian dear, To Whom His Love commits me here, Ever this day, be at my side, To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
